How do I find my Product or Hardware ID?

All paid titles produced by BPC require you to provide a unique identification code when ordering the game; this ID is called the Product ID, or Hardware ID. The ID is NOT the name of the product. If you are looking to obtain your unique ID, follow the steps provided here.

To find your Product ID in Treasure Hunt, first start the game.
Next, select "registration" from the main menu.
Arrow to "Copy product ID to clipboard."
If you are asked to enter your name, do so, and press Enter. If not, this means these steps have been taken previously and a name already exists.
Either way, you will be presented with a dialog stating that your product ID has been copied to the clipboard. Without closing the window, paste the contents of the clipboard into a text file or an EMail message. You must do this without closing the window because the clipboard's content is wiped upon exit of the game. More information can be found here.
Once you have the product ID in a text file or EMail message, you may safely close the game wwindow.

To obtain your Hardware ID for Three-D Velocity, please see the Three-D Velocity Documentation, and find the section labeled "Registering Three-D Velocity.".

I receive a DirectX error when starting a game. How do I solve this? I have DirectX installed, so why isn't it working?

The games written under .NET framework (which include all of our games except those not written for Windows and Tournament) require a DirectX component called Managed DirectX. Even if you have the latest DirectX installed, your system could be missing the managed component. You will need to visit the Utilities Area and download Managed DirectX 9.0C. This install will not harm any later version of DirectX viz. version 10.

When running your games, I get an application initialization error; what do I do?

This error is experienced on systems which do not have the .NET Framework Version 1.1 installed on their computers. Try downloading and installing the .NFW then running the game again; you must have version 1.1 and no other version installed.

I receive an error 430 when I start a game; why is this happening?

This error is experienced on the Windows 98 and Windows 98 SE OSs, as well as on Windows 95. You will need to download the Data Access 2.8 Update to fix this problem.

Why do I receive an error 429: "ActiveX Can't create object" when starting a game?

Try downloading the Visual Basic Runtime Libraries. It could be possible that one or more necessary libraries are missing on your computer. This is most probable with Windows 95/98.

If downloading the runtime libraries does not solve your problem, it could be possible that you need to redownload DirectX. You can download the 9.0 B Runtimes from Microsoft here.

The clipboard is empty when I paste my product ID of a game into a text file or EMail message.

This occurs most often on games which run under the .NET Framework. The clipboard is wiped of all text written to it by the game when the game is closed; this is because the clipboard object created to accomplish this is destroyed. To work around this, paste the contents of the clipboard into the file or EMail message without closing the game. Once the contents has been pasted, you may safely close the game. You will notice afterwards that the clipboard is null.

After I install the .NET Framework, I am asked to log into my computer regardless of whether or not I am on a network. Is there any way to revert to the normal behavior before I installed .NET?

Yes. To prevent the login screen from appearing:

  1. Click "My Computer" then click "Control Panel."
  2. Look for and open "Users and Passwords."
  3. In the list containing all the local users on the computer, remove those which begin with "ASP."

On Windows 2000, the ASP users may not always be created upon installation of the .NET Framework. If you do not find the ASP users,

  1. Click "My Computer" then click "Control Panel."
  2. Look for and open "Users and Passwords."
  3. Navigate to the "Users" tab.
  4. Deselect the checkbox that reads "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
  5. You will be prompted to enter the login information for the user who should be automatically logged into the computer upon boot. Enter this information and click "OK."
